Thin, solid, flexible needles are inserted into specific points on the body. According to TCM principles, the needles work by facilitating the flow of energy through the body, promoting optimal physiological functioning. The needles are retained while you lay back and relax!

This is a great natural way to treat wrinkles, scaring and other signs of aging. Getting microneedling done with full-body acupuncture and bio-light therapy increases your results exponentially. We treat the root of your physiological imbalances that may be causing your skin to age or develop undesirable tone, pigments and textures.
Small electrodes are linked to select acupuncture needles during the acupuncture treatment. The electrodes are hooked up to a small machine (similar to a TENS unit) that produces low-level electrical currents. This increases the effectiveness of the treatment by providing continuous stimulation to the selected points and increasing energy flow throughout the body.
Small, heated glass cups are placed on your skin to create suction. This is used for pain management, reducing inflammation, increasing blood flow, promoting relaxation, myofascial release, and for deep-tissue massage.
A form of bodywork based on the TCM principles of moving energy along specific channels in the body. The practice of Tui Na encompasses a set of joint rotations, stretches, pressure point stimulation and manipulation techniques used to balance the body’s energy. Not your typical massage!

Wear loose fitting clothing - particularly allowing access to the arms, lower legs and abdomen. For pain conditions, wear clothing that allows access to the area of the body where you are experiencing pain (if possible!).
Eat a small meal about two hours prior to your visit. Nothing too heavy! You want to be comfortable during your treatment.
New patients will have a longer initial visit to ensure Crista spends enough time with you to understand your full medical and social history. She also wants to get to know you! Allow 90 minutes for your first visit. Follow up visits usually take 45 minutes to an hour, depending on your discussion with Crista about the progress of your health goals and symptoms. As you become established with Crista, the total time of your visit may become shorter. This is different than a visit with your medical doctor. Crista will take more time to check in with you about the status of your health.
Do you have additional questions about acupuncture, microneedling, herbs, services, or your visit in general? Please do not hesitate to reach out. Send Crista a message at cjacobs@acupointholistichealth.com.
To save time when you arrive for your visit, make sure you complete your new patient paperwork ahead of time. This will ensure you have plenty of time for your visit. Provide an email address when you schedule your appointment to receive a link to the required intake forms.
Arrive make-up free if possible! Plan on staying out of the sun for 24-48 hours after your treatment and follow all aftercare instructions.
Acupuncture and other TCM modalities are used for a broad range of symptoms, diseases, conditions and imbalances. Although this is not meant to replace the care you receive from your allopathic medical doctor(s), acupuncture and herbal medicine is an amazing way to compliment your health care as it has been shown to encourage balance and proper functioning within many of our physiological processes. Reach out directly to Crista at AcuPoint Holistic Health to discuss your health goals and get your questions answered! What have you got to lose?
It depends on your insurance. AcuPoint Holistic Health does not file claims with insurance companies, directly, but will provide you with the paperwork you need to pass on to your insurance carrier. Many insurance policies do cover acupuncture, but insurance policies may vary greatly in terms of deductibles and the percentage of coverage for acupuncture care. As such, we do not guarantee that our services are reimbursable under your policy.
Most people feel nothing when acupuncture needles are inserted; however, you may feel a light pinch or pressure that subsides after a few seconds. These are very fine needles - think strand of hair. With needle retention, many of us feel a dull or heavy sensation in the area local to the needle insertion. In TCM, this is called the sensation of "De Qi" and is known to be therapeutic. Many of us fall asleep and enjoy an "acu-nap" while the needles are retained!
